Minutes of November 16, 2008 Meeting
Claud Sibert called the meeting to order.
Don Benton circulated a printout of his 25 Marker Y-Chromosome DNA
testing.
Curiously, the relative search identified a person with the surname
Benton.
Don Benton and John Mikeska suggested Google the word Soundex
for websites searching names using sound. The data entry is very
complicated.
We discussed the possible meeting rooms for the future. Gander Mountain
has decreed that the Lodge Room is for sporting clubs only. The Genealogy
Group remains intact. We have suspended scheduled meetings until we
locate a meeting place.

Minutes of October 16, 2008 Meeting
Claud Sibert called the meeting to
order.
Claud Sibert presented printouts of pages from the 12th Federal Census
and the 14th Federal Census. The information confirms Claud's Grandfather,
Grandmother (second wife, first wife died) and Grandfather's Daughter
with first wife. The 14th Census confirms Grandfather and Grandmother
have 3 sons, one of which is Claud Sibert's Father, Claud E. Sibert
(Senior to be).
Grandfather's first daughter is no longer with the family. Claud Sibert
received a death certificate of his Grandfather. The death certificate
shows Claud's Great Grandfather; however, Great Grandmother is not
declared.
At this point, Claud, Jr. is reasonably certain of the identity of his
Great Grandfather. The trail ends at this point, no primary documentation.
Don Schoening said that his Great Grandfather is in doubt also.
Don Schoening suggested contacting Google. In the search box
key your name in quotes, "John Doe", and Google will match the
spelling with no alterations.
Don Benton suggested:
Search for obituaries.
Ancestry.com is free at the Beaumont Library, across the street from
the Julie Rogers Theater.
www.familytreedna.com will test (for a fee) your DNA and attempt to
match you with identical matches.
www.usgenweb.com is a good starting point.
Genealogy software for the Macintosh: Reunion ver. 9.

For a help the start your family tree (by hand),
John brought several blank copies of Pedigree Chart.
This chart is designed with several layers (right to left) of pairings,
ending with a single name.
We enjoyed a lively dialogue between all present.
